Chicagoland Breastfeeding was founded by a group of IBCLC Lactation Consultants in the Chicagoland area to provide expert help and support to moms and babies with breastfeeding. All of the lactation consultants in our group know and understand what challenges come with being a new mom. Our Lactation Consultants are all IBCLC board certified, experienced, highly-skilled, and committed to providing a top level of assistance for all of our cherished clients. Together, we have a combined experience of over 65 years with helping breastfeeding mothers and families. We provide considerate, non-judgmental, expert and professional assistance with breastfeeding. We are here for you!
Sheila Zagone, BA, IBCLC, RLC
Sheila has been supporting breastfeeding mothers for well over 20 years. Sheila is a second generation lactation consultant and has observed mother and baby relationships for well over 40 years as her mother led and hosted many La Leche League meetings in their home.Her journey to board certification began as she witnessed the difference in her mother’s parenting and the confidence and independence that resulted in her breastfed siblings.Sheila has been a La Leche League Leader since 1992 and has volunteered in the Leader Accreditation Department for 7 years. Her passion and dedication to help mothers and babies get the best possible start culminated with IBCLC Board certification in 2008. Sheila has significant experience in a wide range of breastfeeding challenges, gained through her years as a Le Leche League Leader, Lactation Consultant and operating her drop-in breastfeeding clinic.Sheila has three grown children (of course they were breastfed) and has been married over 30 years. She has a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education from Northeastern Illinois University. Sheila is a proud member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, United States Lactation Consultant Association and Northern Illinois Lactation Consultants Association.
Tracy Torgerson, MS, IBCLC, RLC
Tracy Torgerson has over ten years of experience working with moms with breastfeeding concerns. She has been an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) working in private practice since 2004. For ten years she was the prenatal lactation class instructor for a local OBGYN clinic. As a Peer Counselor Administrator/Trainer, she has led classes to train others how to support breastfeeding moms. Tracy has helped hundreds of new moms/babies in their breastfeeding journey. Her specialties include working with multiples, low milk supply and mothers/babies with medical issues. “Each couple is unique. My greatest joy is helping mothers discover how breastfeeding can work for them. It is my privilege to help new moms through this transitional time.”
Beth Bejnarowicz, BA, IBCLC, RLC, CLS, PCD(DONA)
As most people in the field, Beth’s journey started with her first pregnancy. She received the breastfeeding support she needed, then finished her lactation counselor training in 2003. Inspired by the over 1,000 mothers and families she supported with breastfeeding over those 8 years, she achieved IBCLC Board Certification in 2010 and also completed her training and certification as a Postpartum Doula. She has been working with breastfeeding mothers and families for over 14 years. Beth also has a passion for supporting women who have gone through traumatic birthing experiences. Beth practices the less is more approach to life; believing that our babies don’t need things, they just need us. Beth is a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, United States Lactation Consultant Association, Northern Illinois Lactation Consultant Association (Vice-President), Chicago Area Breastfeeding Coalition, Chicago Breastfeeding Taskforce, Breastfeeding USA, La Leche League and Doulas of North America (DONA). She is a founding member of Breastfeeding USA. She also volunteers with two other non-profits and is active in her children’s schools.
Alison Velasco, IBCLC, RLC, Postpartum Doula

Alison´s breastfeeding journey began 20 years ago, with the birth of her first child. After overcoming many challenges those first months, she found that the breastfeeding relationship enriched her whole mothering experience and wanted to be able to support and encourage her friends and their babies as well. Alison became a La Leche Leader in 2000, and was one of the founding leaders of La Leche League – Peru, South America, where she lived with her family until 2010. Since returning to the Chicago area, she earned her IBCLC Board Certification and has thoroughly enjoyed helping families meet their breastfeeding goals in ways that are manageable, sustainable and above all, enjoyable. She currently lives in Evanston with her husband, 4 children and 2 kitties. Alison continues offer volunteer support though LLL in Spanish and English and is a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, United States Lactation Consultant Association and Northern Illinois Lactation Consultants Association.
